  • I beat it as king!!

Before when I could not beat it I was not NEARLY aggressive enough... i found out how agressive you have to be in this game.. although I didn't go to war ONCE until 1850 or so..I should have stunted the Chinese growth sooner I guess.

congratulations. I can beat King fairly regularly now. But emporer still poses a challenge to me. As you said, you have to be more aggressive in the higher levels. The ai expands and builds up too fast, I need to beat them down early. But in my style of play, I usually end up waiting till I build up before I travel overseas to attack. I have to get out of that habit.

War said it all - Well Done

What's all this about aggresion? My simple Expansionist Fundamentalist State is not aggressive - it simply continues to expand regardless of minor obstacles such as terrain or other people's (momentarily) cities - (Evil)LOL - is ELOL a standard acronym? I think not, but it should be...

Aggression? I just keep founding cities, occasionally pausing to capture an AI city or ten when the AI is stupid enough to go to war with me.

ELOL? NA (nice acronym)! We might need an AB (acronym board) B4 too long.

All seriousness aside, congratulations RR. But I wouldn't try emperor until you've beaten King a few more times. Refine and hone what you learn at king. If you jump straight to emperor, you might get frustrated right off the bat and develop some bad habits.

But never fear. It's just a matter of time. After all. You beat king at age 16 (assuming my math is correct). It took me until age 50 to do it.
