Quadruple defense vs. Cruise Missiles!

i was cruise missiling the carthagnian cities frome some colonies i had, and i come across a message which states:

"SAM missile battery and SDI defense quadruple defense rate"

What gives? I can no longer blow MECH INF with a single missile!

Ah! I spotted that message in the game.txt and always thought it was a "feature not yet implemented" thing. I'll check this out. Thanks. Oh, and hard cheese

don't worry, a couple of spies and some nukes have reduced their military capabilities, and i have already conquered two cities and am able to fend them off.

regarding defense boni I have a question:

the pikemen were said to get a 100% defense bonus against movement 2 units,. now the civilopedia says it's 50%

so, was there really a 100% bonus before the later patches?

i don't know, i'm hardly attacked during pikemen time.

The Pikeman bonus has been the subject of much past debate. The last I heard, Pikemen get a 50% bonus versus move=2 units but only if the attacker has hp=1.
