I was wondering, what do you listen to while playing civ?
I almost never put the CD in anymore, and the game automatically plays from any tracks that are on the CD currently in.
I especially like playing with the XWing CD in, and I play civ to the tune of all that star wars music. When I have a "we love" day, it plays the throne room music.
I was startled one day to start playing with the Duke Nukem CD in, but it wasn't bad.
the one time I had to change it IMMEDIATELY was when there was a reader rabbit song started playing.
Any man can be a Father, but it takes someone special to be a BEAST

I was just about to point out that Horsie is simply making excuses in advance for why he will suck at Civ III...

da smokes listens to papa roaches "broken home" and other music like that. "american bad ass" (kid rock) is a good song if you are really stomping the ai in a war.

It depends on the mood of the moment. For an intensive challenge game (mainly OCC) I don't normally have any music or sound at all. But in more informal games or when doing some tests using the cheat menu, I may have my favourite (it seems, minority) genre, classical music. One can alwyas find a CD to suit the prevailing mood. I find piano, guitar or harp solos particularly soothing.

I tend to be partial to Beatles and Simon&Garfunkle music. Ventures can be good too, no bothersome lyrics.

What I haven't found yet, and would really like, is about 4 hours of wicked drum music.

Depends on what you define as "wicked drum music". If that covers cross-cultural or world-music orbits, then I reckon Japanese festival drumming would be both exciting and uplifting.

The Ramones Keeps me quick and focused!
Also Dodgy Led Zep and the like.

The first time I put a ramones CD and the throne room came up there was the thundering drums and guitar chords and in the middle of it all came the cheers and sounds of applause. Like a damn live concert!!
              It was hilarious

I listen to a huge MP3 list of Metallica, apocalyptica, Vangelis, tracks I made of the CIV2 CD tracks etc.
