Some time ago Ming said he would seriously think about switching to freeciv if freeciv included a patrol activity.
Well, it is in the development version now. You can go get the source and compile it to test it.
While I had the keyboard out I also moved the goto calculation to the client, which enabled me to modify the way a user specifies a goto. Now when you hit g and move the mouse the client will draw the route a unit will take to the point the cursor points to. This works for patrol too. (this goto line is similar to SMAC and CTP)
Now while I have your attention I will note that there is also code in CVS to
-allow severel humans to cooperatively control a player.
-allow you to be an observer to a human or an AI.
Also, the nation count is now at 63. 30 can play at the same time...
