Planning for the adavance into Germany
We're going to have a bit of a problem once the NorthWest Front captures Riga and the Baltic Front takes Talinin and Pskov. The area available for manuever against Germany shrinks dramatically.
Now, after consultation with the Assistant Director of the NKVD and my own ponderings, I've come up with the decision that we may want to combine the Baltic and North-West Fronts. As you can see from the map, space for 2 fronts between the Belorussian and Baltic Sea will be extremely limited.
This is only an idea though, I want to hear thoughts from all around on what to do. This is by no means an order and should be treated as if just a simple staffer had proposed it.

As for the combination of the fronts, I'm not sure I like the idea, mainly becouse either Anzac or myself would find ourselves without a job just as things are getting interesting
Seriously though, couldn't the baltic front get Königsberg and the North Western front Kaunas-Vilnius?
The objective of the Baltic front would be to secure the coast while the North Western one would watch the inland...No Fighting here, this is the war room!

That is what I initially said in my report, but I think a combination of the two would work out better. I know H is working on a way to solve the job problem. The one and only panda of the Red Army.

Could we not just re-jig the fronts a bit once our big offensives in the North and South are done? Splitting the front into 5 rougly equal sectors. Renaming the NW front to 2nd belorussian perhaps.Grenski Timyfovich Sladkov, People's Armaments Commisar of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and winner of the Valient Labor Medal.

yes, I think the southern front's do have more land compared to the Baltic/north-west fronts and a realignment is in order to fix everything up. Also in the south, they will soon gain more land when they enter into the Balkans and then their fronts will balloon in size.
2nd Byelorussian front...that has a nice ring to itGeorgi Nikolai Anzyakov, Commander Grand Northern Front, Red Front Democracy Game

believe me, I'm not happy with what I suggested, but once Konisberg and Kaunas get captured, the ways into Germany shrink, maybe even to one.
Since between the two of you, at least one of you will be on vacation until the 22nd, we've got some time before we have to make a decision.
How viable would a Romanian Front be?

NW front plans of advance, a proposal:
A: Larger goals: To drive along the German coastline in conjunction with the Baltic front as far as Danzig. After Danzig, I will split off from Baltic Front forces and drive on the roads south from Bydgoszcz to Neustralitz.
I can only break off from Baltic after Danzig is captured, because their is only one real road network, as can be scene in the screenshot. It splits by Konigbserg and Kaunas, but unites in Danzig.
B: Initial plan I plan on capturing Konigsberg first, then Kaunas. The reason for this is that Kaunas is on a river, while Konigsberg is not, therefore it will probably be easier to take Konigsberg, while there is a greater chance I can get stalled outside of Kaunas because of the river (and the best to heal the units would then be all the way back in Daugavpils). Since it is winter, I need not worry too much about Konigsberg's weaker defenses, since the German's will not be able to quickly attack Konigsberg except through tanks (and possibly a naval cruiser or two). I can then use Konigsberg as a base to attack Kaunas in late winter or early spring. Simulteneously, I or or Baltic front could also use the city to attack Danzig as well.
Initial Plan, Four phases:
1. November-December: Move units to point 1 outside of Konigsberg. It is two spaces out from konigsberg, so I need not worry about infantry counter-attacks from the city, though a tank or two might be disconcerting. I am willing to move this staging point back one hex from Konigsberg if my more experienced comrade's feel this has been a problem in their winter campaigns.
2. December-January: Take Konigsberg.
3. Heal damaged units, while sending the remainder of the army to attack Kaunas or Danzig (probably Kaunas, I like keeping a tidy front). This can be simultaneous with phase 2, depending on how tough the Konigsberg defenses are. (Colwyn has found actual German cities seem to have light defenses).
4. Feburuary on: Exploitation. Who really knows what the situation will be, but I said what my plans after Danzig are.
Additional notes: Besides hopefully repairing the road from Riga to Konigsberg , I can only guess Baltic wants Konigsberg as well, so we might jointly assault that city. I'll take responsibility for Kaunas, with possible Baltic assitance if there is a problem, but I would like to do it out of Konigsberg rather than Daugavplis. Baltic may get ahead of me by attacking Danzig first. After that, I think will seperate more.
Any thoughs comrades? Advice, plans, opinions.

You've attacked it? If your are having problems, then I'll definetly take Konigsberg first so I can have a nearby place to refit the troops. Do not worry, those Germans will regret attempting to stand up to two of our mighty armies.
