  • Trade Ministry Report

The Trade Ministry is pleased to report that the ppl support our proposal for upgrading the quantity of Freights produced -- primarily for trade.

    1. If we need freights for use in WoW building, they should be produced in cities that cannot supply needed goods, and/or cities that already have 3 trade routes.

    2. Our existing 4 ftreights should be distributed as follows --
The 2 oil freights should be saved for a WoW -- unless we get Automobile first, in which case we should check for demand.
The Gold shipment near our capitol should be sent to one of the following demand cities -- Vigo (8, recommended), Cremona, and Naples in our empire. It could also be mustered out for a lengthy trip to the Mongol cities or Kashgar or Kernan.
Also, the Silk shipment already en route should be delivered to Tientsin next turn.

    3. Freights Under Construction -- We have 4 of these.
--The two in Barcelona and Seville should be food freights for construction of the next WoW. the ministry would be OK with changing production to other needed personnel if needed.
--CAPITOL Freight should be wine. Deliver to Leptis Parva (Carth). 2nd choice destination is Yokahama.
--The Valladolid freight should be Gold. Recommend we send it to Vigo. Because Valladolid is fairly remote, some Transport planning will be required.

    4. MORE FREIGHTS -- The ppl agree that we should continue to capitalize on Freights to boost Science and the treasury. The ministry recommends that cities with fewer than 3 trade routes established be emphasized. Northern outposts could pay off handsomely. (The cities involved tend to be smaller. It is understood that defense needs to be the first concern, especially for those located near hostile civs.)

Cities desperately needing routes are as follows -- build in cities with bigger pop/more arrows first.

    NO Routes -- Need 3!!
Capua (silk, coal) -- Cremona (spice, silk) -- Cunaxa (silk!) -- Turin (silk)

    1 Route -- Need 2 More!
Cannae -- Obladi (wool!) -- Naples -- whale Island -- Panama City

    2 Routes -- Need 1 More
Bilbao -- Cordoba -- Freeport -- Grenada (wool) -- Issus (copper, coal or silk)) -- Malaga (wool!) -- Santander -- Saragossa (wool) -- Valladolid

    PREFERRED GOODS
WOOL -- From Obladi, Malaga, Grenada, and Vigo.
COAL -- From Capua, Issus, and Saragossa.
    COPPER -- From Issus.
SILK -- From Cunaxa, Cadiz, Capua, Cremona, Issus, Leon, Turin, and Valencia.
SPICE -- From Cadiz and Cremona.
GEMS -- From Avila and Leon

As you can see, there are many possible routes. Build order will be somewhat defined by Transport availability. Organizing escorted trips to distant destinations can pay off handsomely, so the President is asked to take a few minutes to plan a couple of these, rather than simply building Freights willy-nilly without safe access to a destination city.

Good luck and godspeed, H Tower!
