Our attempts to speak to the Japanese on diplomatic terms have been met with silence.

My suggestion is to get the city founded in the middle of their continent as suggested in the possible new city sites (my favourite spoiling tactic). If possible capture a strategic city of theirs whilst they are at war with us. If they want peace after that, they get it (under Demo) so just stack the units and wait for them to break the truce. Then capture 1 more city.....

We should try and get a diplomat there to bribe some of their wandering units as "NONE's" - no resources to support, no unhappiness whilst they wander around making a general nuisance of themselves .

I'm not too worried about the Japanese (even though easily the most warlike). We should just build a couple of Frigates and patrol our shore nearest them. If they approach with units in their Triremes or Caravels, we just sink them.

Like the Carths, let them be "at war" with us if they want. We'll stay ahead of them on defense and they won't stand a chance.

Nagoya looks like a good city for caravan bombardment

Dont give them anything for peace, they pose no threat for us anyway

Yep, let them pursue this ridiculous war if they insist. If it continues, we stand to gain and they stand to lose. Meanwhile, they cannot threaten our homeland and our trade caravans can be protected en route.

Let them have their war and kick their butts when they send out ships

just bombard them with caravans and steal their techs(we are at war, why not abuse it )

next time, there going to be 2 more choices in the "a" part, "War, but don't attack" and "Peace, for free though."
