  • Combining Trade and Science

Should we combine the Ministries of Trade and Science? I'm not entirely sure if we should, but we seem to be short on people willing to take jobs. Some input would be appreciated, particularly from former Trade and Science ministers.

early in the game it might be beneficial, especially since trade won't be a very exciting post for about a month i'm guessing. science will be very busy from the begining, especially since we are thinking about going to AC

we could combine them in the beginning(if there aren't enough ppl for the jobs) but they really should get split up lateron...
since our goal is AC science will be a serious planning job, and if the same person then still needs to think of ways how to get the maximum output from our trade might be a little to demanding.

However, an AC goal might make a good reason to combine them. After all, camel deliveries are crucial to rapid tech advancement. None should be delivered on a turn a tech is discovered, for example. One person could coordinate that.

Also, it seems everybody is still on holiday for the summer... Maybe by september the masses will return, just as we meet AI civs.

How long should we combine them?
Should we combine them until about 100 years after Caravan is discovered? or sooner?

After every term we can decide if we want to split it up.

All depending on # of players and our situation in the game.
