Tale of the Years - 1812 AD
1800 - Made numerous adjustments to city workers and production to reflect changes in strategy and improve efficiency of resource use. Also took advantage of the fact the many units had not been moved in the turn (at the cessation of previous week's play). We launched Ironclad attacks on Babylon and Akkad, stripping the cities of defenders. We reach Babylon with ground units (by Caravel) and take the city, getting 592 gold, KRC, and Sanitation. Additional Cavalry are send to Bombay, and we kill 3 wandering Indian units around Madras. The Indian government has placed Settlers in the approach paths to their cities to delay our advance. A couple of Caravels with Caravans are heading toward remaining good-trade cities.
1802 - We kill the Carth Legion at Oea, and we find Lahore (Indian). Our Caravel with ground units reaches Akkad (166 gold), and we take the city effortlessly. Caravels with additional units are enroute to several battlefronts (Indian, Babylonian, and Barb/Peasant Uprisings). The Barbs/Peasants are Musketeers and Cannons now, often 4 of each at a time. Rivertown, Darkness, and Bloomington are under nearly constant attack. We wake up our Blockading Ironclad fleet and start to clear the coast of units. Many of the Ironclad far away from friendly cities have been recuperating from a previous series of city attacks (had gone into yellow strength). They are all fully refreshed now. Some, after attacking several units weaken slightly, and I rest them again.
1804 - We discover Espionage, upgrade Diplomats to Spies, and start researching Corporation. I take a chance on attacking Lahore with the Cavalry unit that found it. We take down their flag, but are wounded (yellow) and cannot move into city. We kill a Madras Catapault approaching Bombay (had hidden behind a Settler). With our Spies, we target City Walls at Delhi and Calcutta. One Spy is captured before completing mission, one takes down a City Wall, but is captured in the act, and one takes down a City Wall and is returned to Bombay as a Vet. We also wipe out the blocking Settler units.
1806 - Indians discover Metallurgy and become a Monarchy, as do the Babylonians. We assault Delhi with Cavalry and take the city! We get Oracle and 126 gold. Madras revolts for 872 gold; we get 272 gold back, 2 Musketeers, and 1 Settler. There is an Indian Crusader waiting within reach of Lahore. But Lahore has not raised it's flag, so our brave Cavalry enter the city at fortify themselves against the Crusader threat. We also eliminate the last defenders from Ashur (Babylonian) and enter the city with a lone Cavalry from Babar, getting 156 gold. We kill the remaining Peasants at Rivertown. They sure were surprised to find an Ironclad from the Babylonian front show up at their backs! There was a Caravel from Shade with Cavalry and Musketeers arriving as backup. They continue their cruise to the Indian Front. We attack Calcutta with 2 Cavalry and a Musketeer. They kill many defenders, but the city flag does not go down. There were 4 Indian Musketeers there. We attacked from what defensive terrain we could find, and our units (some in red) are at least on river squares. We establish the city of Buffalo (because it was on a Buffalo) and cover all the land squares of the island to stop further Peasant revolts.
1808 - The Babylonian government is overthrown. Guess they didn't like being a Republic. We lose 2 of the 3 wounded units outside Calcutta. This has been the most even fighting of our campaigns, and the Indians are both numerous and relatively advanced. I send in the Spy. Calcutta revolts for 338 gold. We get 346 gold for taking the city (a PROFIT!) *and*2 Musketeers! Amazing. Treachery has accomplished what armed force could not! Ironclads continue to pick off Carth units wherever possible while remaining at full strength.
1810 - Babylon becomes a Republic. Bangalore revolts for 284 gold; we get 337 gold (PROFIT again), 4 Musketeers, and we sell the Granary for another 60 gold. THE INDIAN CIVILIZATION IS DESTROYED! We establish the new city of NoMoreBarbs on the Bloomington island to prevent more attacks there. We are leaving an Ironclad (that has to recuperate anyway) and a Cavalry S of Rivertown for the same reason.
1812 - Barbs kill a wounded Cavalry near kIndalia. We discover Corporation. The research choice are poor, and I select Theology (Fundamentalism, Magnetism, Genetic Engineering, Refining, and Guerilla Warfare were the others). Fresh troops from Umbra have arrived (by Caravel) behind it, and kill the Barb at kIndalia. We find Gades (Carth, near Watership Downs). We kill a Carth Trireme with 2 units aboard and kill a Barb Trireme near Girba with 6 units. We deliver a Silver Caravan to Ur (Carth) and get 700 gold!
A lot of our Ironclads are in yellow condition (even killing fortified Warriors exacts a price eventually) and are resting. We have an oil Caravan seeking a good target (no other civ wants oil now, but it is still a high-value trade item). Our Engineers have been busy building RR between cities and on mines and forests. Available troops are gathering at pickup points around the conquered lands. We have Freight available on the home island for use in another Wonder or for trade routes.
The end of Babylon is in our grasp; Carthage awaits our attention. No others remain to threaten us…

Screenshots to follow, though I think I will only post a couple of general interest and let the newly elected Cabinet Members take it from there tomorrow. We simply have entirely too many cities, areas of land, etc, for one person to post all the meaningful pictures. On the other hand, that is because we are nearing victory at the end of the game, so that it good news!
