We do need to consider how many defensive units it takes to safely hold conquered cities safe from Barbarian or opportunistic AI attacks. And we have to transport those units from where they are built to where they are needed.

And hopefully we will get some units that will upgrade. We don't have many available defensive units to hold the cities we take.

Two defensive units for each costal city ?
One, withe some offensive units (to hunt barb leaders ), in others, but with road, then railroad, connection.
Nevertheless, the martial law may need three units by city in this stay!

Either might work fine. We'll have Riflemen soon, and 2 Riflemen or 1 Rifleman and a Dragoon ought to be able to hold against anything these civs are able to throw at us. Never can tell what the Barbs might be allowed, though.

I definately vote for bribing at least one of the other cities.........probably NY. The other we can take by force when we find it.
Bribing is probably the easiest way to capture the non-coastal walled cities where we have taken the Capitals. I'll plan to build Diplomats where we don't already have them conveniently placed.

I was a bribing partisan for a long time, and this idea becomes trivial.
But don't forget it means some monney, even for cheap cities. We have to reduce rushbuilding, which was largely used last sessions.
before last session though, we used very little, and even last session I we gained money overall. I understand your concern, but we have plenty of money . I have also just been able to 100% confirm that New York is where it is (as opposed to 99% we had before ): Shift-c, go to city, and it says New York is right in that square, as we expected!
Definately take NY but do we want to keep boston as a "pet" or do we wipe out the Amrericans?
If the game is not set to recreate the americans somewhere else then my vote is to wipe them out.
Also, it was suggested that Boston was South of Alexandria, however i think it more likely that the americans established a new city on a near by coastline rather than pass thru egyptian territory. Don't forget the other egyptian cities we have not discovered... I think it likely that they will be in that spot instead.
P.S. have we explored any of the land south of thebes yet?
Wizards sixth rule:
"The only sovereign you can allow to rule you is reason."
Can't keep me down, I will CIV on.
About Boston, the point at the SW of Alexandria seems more convenient for the last egyptian city.
But what about the peninsula between Pi-Ramses and Alexandria : ther is a roaded tile out af the circle of known cities.
Civmann 2000 may test Boston in the Find list as he did for New-York ... if it is not considered as cheating !
