Better to mine the grasslands, transforming takes up too much time and we are now at a stage where we can use the engeneers for much needed naval bases.

when you mine grasslands they turn into forests... ugly ugly forests... but it is quicker you do have a point there

My argument is that mining grasslands is considerably quicker then transforming AND mining.

Ok, you loose the extra shield but with the time gained you can do more usefull things with the engineers.

                      Yes, 'tis an absolute disgrace

Before we think about doing anything, we should think about what needs to be changed most (Caitalist Strategy #1 - Make them think about something else ).

                      PHASE 1.1: LIFE SPAN:
The life span is, frankly, ridiculous. But once medicine is discovered, that'll be much better, as will disease. So thats not my problem (Capitalist Strategy #2 - Immediately make the problem someone elses)

                      PHASE 1.2: SCIENCE:
Literacy is pathetic! We won't keep our tech advantage up unless we start building some more education facilities to maintain our advancement rate whilst jacking the taxes up a bit (Capitalist Strategy #3 - Find some way of making it right to raise taxes). So, to put this up a bit (and to maintain our advancement rate), I shall begin to look for suitable places for Libraries and other educational facilities.

                      PHASE 1.3: INCOME:
Income per capita is awful. This might be because we have a high population, but its also because we have a lack of income raising improvements. Our glorious President cavebear has started to build marketplaces in several cities, and I will begin to look at places where banks might be of good use in the future. I shall also talk to the Minister of Expansion about getting some engineers to modify the land slightly to increase trade levels. And, of course, once we've done Phase 1.2, we can change some of those Scientists into taxmen (Capitalist Strategy #4 - Sneak in some taxmen when nobody is looking).

                      PHASE 2.1: PRODUCTIVITY:
Well, thanks to our glorious Presidents intelligence, we have already started to improve land into hills around one or two of our core cities, to increase productivity (Capitalist Strategy #5 - SUCK UP!!). Not much more we can do, except build a couple of roads/mines here and there, and wait for the Industrial Age.

                      PHASE 2.2: FOOD:
This looks alright for now, in my ever-so-humble opinion. More food = less disease = longer living, so its good, right? When our cities grow a bit more we can irrigate other parts of land around them, and build harbours and other improvements. Did you know that if you put an engineer in a ship and select it (the engineer) when its at sea, you can build roads in the ocean? Theres probably a patch that stops that though.. but I don't have it I'm also not sure about the aqueduct situation.. I shall look into that.

There. That should solve one or two problems for our pathetic Demographics
                      Roar!

Build granaries, it increases the life expectancy, or do we have the pyramids?

The Egyptians have the Pyramids, at Thebes (Capital).

Then let us destroy the evil capitist oppressors of the proletariat in Thebes and put the Pyramids, which are symbols of regressive political systems doomed to the ash-heap of history by the dialectic, to use for the peasents and workers of the United Apolytonia.

Yes, the Pyramids were build by oppressed Workers struggling under the heavy hand of the powerful hoarding elite. These symbols of the Workers struggle must be taken for the benefit of the proletariat, and the Elite cast down from their thrones!
