or america should switch to the way the rest of the world does dates.

Really, month/day/year is just the order a date is spoken in american english, so it makes perfect sense. Nobody asked the date order trend setters to be compatible, after all...

That's one reason I normally try to use the word for the month (May 31 2002) rather than the number in international forums.
