Well, I'll be switched. It does add a shield! I went to an old file and cheated a RR onto a Forest square ands the shields went to 3.

My apologies, civman2000. Since Road never improved Forest, I didn't ever really look at RR in Forest. I'll keep that in mind! And it may be of some good value shortly!

Well, I don't think you can say "newbie" at me. I was here when MP play was new. But I sure did miss that RR in Forest thing! I learn new tricks every day... And I thank everyone for those.

The sceenshot (from PC version) doesn't speak of effect of railoads : one more shield !
On the other hand, transforming generaly takes more turns than irrigation or mining or building roads.

                RELIC!!!!!

And cavebear - the RR thing is why I always RRed every city radius square in Civ2 - extra 50% production for free never hurt!

Back to the ROOTS of addiction. My first missed poll!

Moral support for cavebear - I didn't know about that either. I doubt there's anyone out there who knows everything

With the limit that RR has no effect on roaded grassland or plain.
Personaly, I systematicly RRed forest tiles, then mined hill and even mined mountain tiles, but in this case, it needs a long delay to achieve ! and beware at the pollution if the shield improvment is not controled (recycling, solar plant...)
