  • 1400 AD Minister Reports

I would like to receive the Ministers Reports by Friday Noon GMT so that I can play the next session Friday when I get home (US EDT) and keep to a schedule that will match the end of May for the next administration.

Some have been keeping me up-to-date gradually (and that works), but I want to make sure everyone has the chance to advise me on what to do in their special areas in the next session. What I am not specifically advised about, I will decide on my own.

My plan of action for the next session, based on the reports so far:

          1. Follow the recommendations of the Minister of Trade to complete the SoL Wonder in 7 turns, send a Bead Caravan to Babylon.

          2. Follow the recommendation of the Minister of War to take Heliopolis from the Egyptians.

          3. Follow the recommendation of the Foreign Minister and establish Embassies.

          4. Follow the recommendation of the Science Advisor and research Explosives after Democracy and take University from the Egyptians.

With those in mind, I will build the SoL and turn Communist in the first available "Oedo Year". Upon discovery of Democracy, I will research Explosives. I will take Heliopolis if possible, after we discover Democracy, and I will take University upon capturing Heliopolis. The Trireme going to Babylon will include a Diplomat along with the Bead Caravan.

Along the way, I will attemptto maintain 4 cities building Caravans for future Wonders (mostly) and some Trade. I will increase the numbers of or Crusaders, and I will continue to balance out the distribution of our Musketeers to reduce shield support for "excess" units. Further, I will work to improve our GNP, Productivity, and Per Capita Income.

I think that about covers things for now.

          Civ2 Demo Game #1 City-Planner, President, Historian
Civ2 Demo Game #2 Minister of War,President, Minister of Trade, Vice President, City-Planner
Civ2 Demo Game #3 President, Minister of War, President
          Civ2 Demo Game #4 Despot, City-Planner, Consul

                Good plan.
Perhaps building SoL in less turns ?

that would be a miracle...6 or 7 turns is the absolute minimum(or we would have to rushbuy ,ussing all our money to finish 1 turn earlier...but I'm not sure we even have enough money to do so.)

Actually, it was JCP's post that caused me to re-examine the situation and look for a quicker way. As far as I can tell, it saved at least 1 and maybe 2 turns.

                      Thanks, JCP!

I think your job will be more important for the next 2 sessions. Now that we are Communist, we can expand again and build some new cities. Your recommendations will be needed.

But do have your report ready by next Friday. US daytime!

I increased our tech research rate by identifying Workers in size 5+ cities that were producing on ocean squares and converted them to Scientists. That got us from 9 turns per tech to 7 (but actually only gained one turn because we were a few turns into it).

I improved the Caravan transport route by not going to Sodaq, but rather to the land square 2 SE of it. The Caravans get to Apolyton in 3 turns rather than 4, and the Trimarene picked up the Crusader and the Umbra Caravan where the first 2 Caravans were, rather than 1 S of Walvis. Plus, if you look at your "Purple Spot", I used the square 1 NW, where you can also pick up the first 2 Caravans and went diredtly S from there.

My changes are in light blue.
