  • Should we explore?

At this point, we have 6 triremes, most of which are transporting our units for the war with Egypt. Two of them are exploring. About half of the map is currently unexplored.

I feel that we should construct one or two more triremes to explore our world, and to seek out new building sites and the almighty goody huts.

Poll is open for 2 days.

This is an excellent question from the Minister of Imperial Expansion (do we have a great Cabinet or what?).

I think 4 triremes is sufficient for transporting units to attack the Egyptians (and maybe the nearby Americans), I agree it is good to have 2 exploring the world (to see what they can discover), and we should probably have 2 triremes transporting trade goods (hey, it takes some time to reach the best markets).

We must keep enough boats available for transporting our troops! It makes no sense to build an invasion force that can't invade, after all.

The trireme near the Carthaginians should continue exploring. It really has no choice, being on the other side of the planet and all.

I say exploration is a lower priority right now. We've found all the AI civs. When we explore more, we should have a diplomat or explorer along to search for huts.

Six seems enough to me. Assuming we don't lose any, we should just use what we have for transport and any surplus to explore (or trade). Once any war is won (or otherwise settled) we can go back to explore mode. I don't see popping huts as a priority if we will be expanding and gaining techs through conquest.

At this time, I think it would be a waste to use any of our cities to built triremes. We should focus on using them to transport troops, for now.

Although, if we continue to build troops, then building more triremes may be necessary, but we should use them for the war effort.

Yes, a good point, but we shouldn't build them just to explore, as the poll title suggests.

Sorry about the confusion. Of course we can use new triremes for transport, I'm simply suggesting that when we're done we should try to explore. Goody huts are VERY nice, and there will probably be alot of them hidden throughout the map.

at this moment there are 3 or 4 triremes good for transporting troops.
the one near Carthage should go on exploring when health is restored.
the one near Naldurai should stay there to transport caravans between the 2 islands.

maybe build a couple more, use most (?5?) for transport and the rest to explore...

i think that trading maps is a better idea
maybe if we send a trirreme to see if we find a few more huts around Carthago

Good luck getting the AI's to trade maps...they don't exactly like us.
