    let's see....

    *steps up to microphone*
    Dear ppl of Apolytonia,

as we all know there have already been numerous attempts to kill MWIA and he managed to survive all of them.
Would this survival skill not make him the best possible candidate for the post of VP. If something bad would happen to our president we can rest assured this man can take over the job even if the battle was fought in the senate itself. He would be completly safe, even if bullets were flying around his head.
This would make him the best suited person to rule in such a time.
    --> Vote MWIA for VP!!!
    MWIA for VP!!!
    MWIA for VP!!!
    MWIA for VP!!!
    MWIA for VP!!!
    MWIA for VP!!!

*steps down while the crowd goes wild and shouts:
    "MWIA for VP!!!" *

          Gold and Glory

After my fast gamerun as current president I have the path in mind I will follow if you want me to be your tradeadvisor.
Using tradecaravans with the Romans I'll make sure we have a decent and steady Cash/science/flow.
Stacking half a dozen caravans will make sure we get our next wonder(I hope it to be the "statue of liberty") in a minimum of turns so a change to communism will be possible and we get rid of all happiness problems without losing our productivity and the communism side effect of not having any corruption will surly double our science/cash income.
These are goals that we can attain easily...

A good situation for the end of your term.
But what are you expecting from EiffelTower. As a parisian, I think it is a meanfull monument, but as a civplayer, I almost never build it, the effect is only on reputation, not on commie possibility.
To reach what is exposed in the follow of the quote, we need to complete the Statue of the Liberty (which is another parisian monument too, due to Bartoldi and Gustav Eiffel ! the New-Yorker one is only a big replica !)

As we approach the final hours of a close election, I strongly advise the candidates to use PM campaigns to non-voting citizens.

              Get out the vote!

I think we should be cautious of using PM for election campaigning. 10 or 12 people all attempting to PM all the registered citizens could get quite annoying. I know *I* would consider it spamming. I'd hate to see our Democracy game develop a bad reputation among other players.

IMHO, we should go to Fundamentalism, and obtain technology by spying and conquering. Fundamentalism would eliminate our happiness problems altogether. (You have no unhappy people ever under fundamentalism, and improvements which normally make people happy instead generate money).

One of the early polls of the game was wether we should be an agressive civ, or a peaceful one. The large majority voted for a peaceful one, so I doubt we shift from Democracy to Fundamentalism before getting Robotics (and then blast our enemies to smithereens).

Aye. I mentioned in my other posts that we should have a solid technological lead before even trying this. :P

I agree fully with the intent, Jrabbit, just think that maybe a less intrusive method might be available. I wonder if the powers-that-be might consider a general announcement on the home screen or someplace like that. Something informative but not so labor-intensive.

But I also have to consider that we might want the voting limited to the people who more routinely participate and know the history and flow of the game. As the King of Siam said: "It is a puzzle".

If I may be so bold as to ask a few hours before the voting is over, would you as Historian, please contemplete several ways to increase voter participation that would be both effective and yet, not too intrusive. I would value your suggestions.

Best of luck in the coming month...
Thank you. And yet, the story of my administration will be in your hands as much as mine...
