  • Issue: General city build order queue

What do the people want to see built in their cities? Because polling every city every time something new is needed has already become too difficult, we need a general build queue.

The status of cities in 375bc shows numerous marketplaces being built. This was never polled! I know that many players (including le marquis, thus this paragraph) would never consider building a marketplace before a library. I urge minister kasseopeia to create a general build queue for cities. For example,

cheap defender (if settler has no escort)
    temple
    settler
    other unit
    library
    settler
    marketplace

    or what have you. Comments?

    City build order

Generaly, I build marketplace before library, with some exceptions with lib before mktpl.
Marketplace helps for happiness and in the beginning of the game, money makes science too.
And don't forget caravans for trade roads or WoW.

Have we not voted a minister to control all of this or do ministers just post silly polls without actually making any directions.

I certainly don't want to have to vote for every production target for each city. Especially when I don't have enough details at my fingertips for each city (and don't expect to).

I think a general sort of queue can be established without locking the Ministers into bad choices. So we (the citizens) decide on a general list of priorities (such as libraries first vs marketplaces first) and let the appropriate Ministers make their recommendations to the President in specific cities (according to oddities or advantages of local conditions.

Surely, we wouldn't want to impose a marketplace in our soon-to-be stronghold near the Romans in favor of city walls, nor city walls on the cities interior to our main landmass.

I do generally favor a marketplace *very* early, for both the gold and the happiness. The gold will support the other city improvements.

I'm in favor of Marquis's proposed queue, with two exceptions-- switch marketplace and library, and add Caravan to the end of the list. Other than that, I like it.

Perhaps Deity games are rather different, but I don't see all that much advantage in having the marketplace early on. Of how much import is the cash right now? Assuming we don't make stupid mistakes in any possible wars, it would be of much greater benefit to build Caravans for rushing Wonders etc. Y'see, I agree with the above build queue, except that Caravans should be there instead of the Marketplace, and if Library wouldn't give any advantage by the time we get to that part of the queue, we should build Caravans then until a Library _would_ benefit.

Posters and viewers of this thread really need to combine their thoughts and decisions with those in the Wonders thread!
