Yes, the Observatory is good as well, but what stopps us from building both?

We don't appear to be all that good at building wonders, lots of triemes but not wonders.

I suggest that we go for Navigation. Since we'd get Astronomy with it anyway, we'd be able to build both Magellan's Voyage (which helps, to say the least) and Copernicus! And we'd get caravels, as a bonus.
