  • Poll: 20 turns of tyranny before 1st term?

As your first president , I will need to know if I should just play the first 20 turns as a tyrant (as Shade suggests), or not.

20 turns takes us to 3000bc. As you know, this time period usually involves moving a unit or two several times and hitting return. If tyranny is approved, I would still post polls for research goal(s) and such. A 4000bc save game will be included.

Decisions I would not make on my own:
    • What tech to research
    • Whether or not to tip huts
    • Whether or not to settle immediately if starting square isn't dandy
    • Whatever else the masses would frown upon
    18
    Yes!

    9
    No!
    44.44%
    8
    No preference.
    5.56%
    1

    The poll is expired.

The first President of the first Apolyton Democracy Game (CivII, that is)

The gift of speech is given to many,
    intelligence to few.

I'd much prefer a month IRL time.

      I say:

      1. Don't post a save. We don't want anyone to lok into the future, and that can't be done if the save is kept secret.

      2. Start by posting an image of the staring spot, and specify the startin conditions (# of settlers and techs)

      3. Poll for first city (on starting spot or somwhere else)

      4a. Poll for exploration direction
      4b. Poll for reasearch.
      4c. Anything else I forgot

      5. Anything else I forgot

Forgot, that when the directions are set the president could play some turns until he finds...

        a) a good spot for a city
        b) an opponent civ
        c) a hut
        d) anything else of interest.

        This is my suggestion.

My opinion: In the beginning just post a screenshot and people decide whether or not to build a city right away, what to be built and which direction to explore (roughly). For the rest: You're the commander in field, so you decide what to do when you encounter something like a goody hut or when you make first contact with another civ. You can declare war if you like, but as in real life you should consider the reaction back home. After first contact though it should be coordinated beforehand with the people what to do.
"The world is too small in Vorarlberg". Austrian ex-vice-chancellor Hubert Gorbach in a letter to Alistar [sic] Darling, looking for a job...
"Let me break this down for you, fresh from algebra II. A 95% chance to win 5 times means a (95*5) chance to win = 475% chance to win." Wiglaf, Court jester or hayseed, you judge.

              Second try...

You know my idea about this...==>TIRANNY

maybe just ask for some setteling info:

              -->Settle immediately or not?
              -->Explore? N/E/S/W/Circular
-->Science?First 4 techs will be more than enough.
-->Foreign?If we meet an other civ how to proceed?peace&exchange /war /...
-->What to build in the city?troops/buildings/settlers to expand/...

after all these questions are done just go and start playing those 20 turns.(you don't have to hurry, you can really take your time,1 hour will probably be more then enough )
After that we all can start bugging you

I agree on the first part, but we need writing first.

If we're number one and researching at high speed, millitary techs will come fast enough.

Leader will rule 5 turns, post screenshots, let ministers post polls,
and leader starts following 5 turns after about 48 h.

That's the CFC System. And it works.
Leader have to tell the ministers what polls need to be done before continue first.

yeah but we're talking about the first 20 turns
-->that is the moment when you are researching in your only city at 12 or more turns, and have an enormous army of 1 settler(left over from Diety start and 2 rogue warriors(if you have that much)

Hm, how about we at least LOOK at the starting location before we sign off on these 20 turns hm? Initial city placements are important! (at least to the expansion minister)
