  • City Advisor 1814: Apolytonia

In line with the prvious poll, Apolytonia is building a settler, which will be completed in 5 turns. After that we will need a turn to get back up to pop 12 with celebrations. We could continue building settlers to to settle as much of the new lands as quickly as possible, or intersperse with another build.

We now have two Caravels - one for exploring, the other for ferrying Caravans/Settlers around. We can handle only 2 more non-Settler or Caravan units out of the City Walls before we need to up the lux rate to handle the unhappiness in Poly.

What do we build after the current Settler? (5 turns)

A Defensive unit for the new colonies? (4 turns)
A Caravan (Gold) to establish a route with a city that does not demand the good (Killdeer or Giza nearby)? (9 turns)
    Another Settler? (7 turns)
A Bank? (this will increase our gold intake by +1 net and will give us the ability to Xin effectively for Gold) (20 turns)

    You've got three days.

I think we need to continue building Settlers (particularly in Apolytonia) to establish new cities.

Settlers are good - but let's have three trade routes first.

rjm - do you realise that the last one of Apolytonia's supplied goods (for the moment) is not demanded by any cities we are near? Caravans rule, but only if we can get them to where they are wanted.

Cash the two undemanded vans ASAP in Egypt. Having three routes sooner is better than waiting to find someone who wants that commodity. Weigh the relative merits of building another van before delivering the two that are out. This would mean changing from settler to caravan and rushing. The reason for this is the good chance that delivering the next two vans will block the gold supply that is now available.

I wouldn't be concerned about delivering undemanded vans right now. Until more of the map is uncovered it is very likely that all vans will be undemanded. Just not enough possible destinations. I guess maps are out of the question??

If a settler is built, I would wait to celebrate until Utica is size three so it can grow too.

Bloody Monk has answered this comment. IMO we need the ongoing arrows from 3 trade routes; it could take forever to find a city that demands our goods.
