  • Attacking Boston

We have a fortress near Boston, 4 river-moves or 2 land moves from the city. There is a Vet Musketeer, a Crusader, 4 Vet Cannons, and a Diplomat in the fortress. I see several ways of attacking or dealing with Boston.

    1. Surround the city with 4 pairs of Cannons/Fortified Defenders and attack from those positions.

    2. Use a "charged" Settler to build a fortress next to the city in 1 turn and move our Cannons et al (fortified) to the new fortress.

    3. Ignore Boston. It has nothing of value to us compared to Washington or New York. We can leave a few units in the fortress there to lure an attack, and the rest can move east toward Washington.

I'll admit I want Washington (and then New York).

    Thoughts?

I agree, option 3 is by far the best, giving us Leo's and basicly making Americans harmless.

When we do attack Boston I would prefer the pre-charged settler tactic as it makes sure none of our units get killed by cannons in the city.

That's a relief! I thought you wanted to take Boston. I immediately state a desire to focus all our strength north of the American core cities on Washington!.

I think we should move 2 of the 4 Cannon and the Diplomat out of the fortress north of Boston to the Washington Front. Thge Aqueduct in Styx should be rushed (and a worker removed so we don't lose the impending new Citizen) so that we can rush a Fanatic to another Cannon at the gates of Washington.

The Units in Sheol must break out of the city to commence an attack. The Musketeers have to move along the hills toward Washington. I think an attack can be done in 8 or 9 turns with a Diplomat to investigate Washington, 5 Cannon to attack first, and several Musketeers to protect the Cannons.

        Sounds good.

The only thing I wonder is if we should hold the attack untill they discover Railroad.

I don't see why we would, I think they will get it soon enough anyway, and we will continue to take cities after we take Washington.

Sounds fine, just one thing - how exactly will those Cannons safely move into position? I see no problem with taking Washington before they get RR - they got Feud in something like 8 turns! I think RR will come soon after we take Washington anyway. That might be the perfect excuse to take Boston.

Each Cannon will have a Vet Musketeer or Fanatic with it. There are some additional defensive units coming from the west.

Our president seemed to express some concern over the ammount of activity arround sheol, do we have anything other than the diplo to scout ahead for enemy sentries?

I intend to ask that the Cannon under constuction there be changed to a Diplomat wich would be completed in the next turn. The Dip would alow our 1-move units to see 2 squares away, so as to avoid an ambush by a new Cannon.

We have to re-take control of the line of hills south of Sheol, and the Diplomat will permit that.

I like it, I wonder what realestate prices in Washington will be? It will make a nice place to rest our boots, though an army is not built to be idle

I expect that real estate prices in Washington will be temporarily depressed. It will be an excellent time to invest.
