    Yes, I have them turned on. I have a fast connection, so it doesn't take long for them to load.

          On. First, some look cool. Second, I sometimes notice an avatar of an interesting poster and read the post... easier to notice when quickly looking through.

          Had them off for the first weeks after vB switch, though, as loading times were intolerable.

              Most have them on I'd say. They are fun, unless your connection is really slow. That is the only reason to turn them off.

                Does it matter that much on loading times?

                Always have them on.

                    On. It has been like that since my dial-up days. As others said, it is easy to skim through a thread and find the interesting posters at a glance. And I can see my cool avatar too.

                          but they would be more helpful if some people wouldn't change their avatars every 3 weeks or so.

                          Come to think of it though, most of the people who post in the civ3 forums rarely change their avatars.
