On. First, some look cool. Second, I sometimes notice an avatar of an interesting poster and read the post... easier to notice when quickly looking through.

Most have them on I'd say. They are fun, unless your connection is really slow. That is the only reason to turn them off.Comment

Does it matter that much on loading times?
Always have them on.Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

but they would be more helpful if some people wouldn't change their avatars every 3 weeks or so.
Come to think of it though, most of the people who post in the civ3 forums rarely change their avatars.
