  • Why is the picture thread still open?

I know it's a special thread and all but...

A while ago, in this thread it was explained to us by Ming that threads are closed after 500 because
many posters do not have fast internet connections. It takes a long time for them to load long threads
    .

Considering the size of the average post in that thread, surely using the reason above it, it should be closed...

(note: I'm not saying close the thread, I'm just asking why, considering the thread nature, it is still open)

Maybe they figure the picture thread by its very nature will kill a 56k'er, so theres no point trying to keep the thread 56k-friendly.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

MarkG started the thread, it is only he who is going to close it. I guess he hasn't noticed or doesn't really mind.

It's up to MarkG when to close it and start a new one.

I try not to make a habit of closing his threads

On the same note has the "you know you spend too much time on Apolyton" thread been granted an exemption? MarkG didn't start that one.

Skanky came to me in a vision and instructed me to make the post. Therefore it's still his fault by proxy.

Thread length has no effect on how long it takes to load the thread. That depends on the individual user's thread view settings (I use 50 posts/page).

Besides, if you open a new 'you know....', you're likely to get a copy of the first one.

Maybe the next step is that we have a "Why is the "Why is the picture thread still open?" thread still open?"
