I haven´t the foggiest. Check the help. However, I might try it in Photoshop if you like.

*edit* ****!! Obviously this is beyond my capacity. But there´s probably some very simple way to do this...

ok now. this was a more difficult one to do because the background was several different shades of white (i only know how to make 1 transparent..perhaps somehow you can do more than 1 i dont know....) and once converted to one shade, said shade was also in other parts of the image (like the hat) which would also be transparent. so i ended up having to make the entire background a different colour (blue) and making IT transparent...

anyways, to make a colour transparent, go colour->set palette transparency->(pick colour to make transparent)

What's so hard about Colours > Set Palette Transparency?

It´s hard if you don´t remember that that´s the way to do it...

But I´m pleading temporary memory loss, and that´s the story I´m sticking with!

                    Easiest way:

Use magic wand to select white bg
                    Export as .gif (Web Toolbar)
For transparency, select "inside current selection"

i knew the wizard would show up and prove his power to all us mere mortals and charlatans who only aspire to be as good as him.

That's not necessary; I'm not THAT wonderful.
