  • Where should the story thread(s) go?

After a whole fruitless day waiting for people in the Stories and Diplomacy forum to participate in a writing project (see link in my signature), I am asking -- begging the moderators to move the threads back to OT.

    Reasons:

    1) The Stories forum is, frankly, a Diplomacy forum. My thread is badly out-of-place in a forum that is primarily concerned with world-domination. My threads clutter up the space there and is a waste of Apolyton's resources.

    2) There have been running story threads in OT before, and I believe they have been pretty successful. Just recently there was a contest for Story Opening lines, and participation was amazing. Simply by moving those threads, the story project can be transformed from sluggish to vibrant. I think that is the point of having an OT forum in the first place.

So, I say that the two story threads be moved back to OT. They could be topped too, of course , but I have full confidence that OT will keep story threads afloat and thriving.

It's a diplomacy forum because nobody posts stories there... give it a chance. I've always allowed a story thread or two in the OTF at any given time... but I'm not going to top it. It either survives, or drops like a rock

People don't look for stories in the "Stories and Diplomacy" forum because there are virtually none there. People don't start stories there because other people don't look for stories in the "Stories and Diplomacy" forum.

        You do see the problem.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

I think Ming's point is if there is no story forum then people may complain their stories can't survive in the hectic OT. It is better to have both than either one.

Ok... so can you move it back to OT? You don't have to top it.

            edit:
forget it, I'll just make a new thread on OT. In the meantime you can close the two threads in Stories and Diplomacy.

We shall see what happens to your new thread...
My view of the OTF usually shows a 5 hour spread or less from the thread at the top of the OTF to the last thread shown on the first page... That sometimes makes it very difficult to keep a story thread on the first page... good luck

As expected... 5 hours later, it was off the first page.

Thats why people wanted story threads in another forum. Then you would have 10 days or so on the first page and people can find it
