"Forum Jump" Buttons Vanishing?

Markos, Dan, et al.:

I've noticed that a few times when perusing w/i a thread. I have to go to the top of the page and click on the link to the forum I'm in in order to get back to a refreshed forum page (I could just use the "Back" button, too, but then the page won't be refreshed).

I take it this is another method to save on bandwidth during peak usage times?
