Okay after some testing ... I can download and open the Hover_Copter .zip file here: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=63363

But all other .zip files I've tried have been DOA.

Looks like I have to correct me, here. File name is correct but if it should be a *.zip file then it is something else. I was able to get it right by using get right. My statement about Mozilla 1.1 seems still be right entirely. There is just the renaming problem I get *.zip files if I am supposed to get *.zip files.

N4.79 is giving me broken 13k stubs when I d/l an attachment, while my old MSIE4.x claims that the file is unavailable from server or user settings are blocking d/l. I don't have MSIE web "protection" enabled. (see the Sticky Mouse succession game in Civ2 General/Help forum).

          You like old browsers?

Mark, i didn't want to post a new thread so here.

in the ACDG, we just finished a turn, and poly seems to be screwing up the zipped save file. when you download it, and try to open it, winzip says "invalid archive. if you downloaded this file, try downloading it again."

several people got the save by other means (email) and posted their own .zip's, but it still gave the same message. i finally uploaded it to my webspace and people have to download it from there. this seems to be happening with all .zips i try to download

poly must be doing it because my winzip works on zips i already have . whats going on here?

It downloads properly in Opera but the filenames are messed up. This is better than the previous state of affairs where it didn't download properly but had the correct filename.

Did I say it was working? It isn't. Opera 6.05 gets the correct file size but downloads the wrong file.

Are you in the Southeastern US by any chance?

I'm glad someone else had the same problem, but it looks like it's fixed.

Without hearing anything from the Poly folks, I'm blaming UUNet's problems yesterday. Looks like the backbone of the internet had a back spasm.

Asher, I don't like several newer browsers, mainly minor annoyances in features that one uses all the time, so that they are continually annoying. Netscape 6 and Mozilla are AOLified, an unforgivable sin.

Nope, the problem has evaporated. Actually, the filenames are still wrong, but the files download fine.
