Hmm, on second thought Merchant Prince might have been the first TBS I ever played. I think that Civ predated Mer. Pr., but damned if I can remember...

Civ1 many, many, many years ago...

Colonization, although I bought Civ1 about the same time.

Probably Warlords for me. I used to win without much saving and reloading each turn.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

I played Civ 1 on the Amiga!

And you guys think Civ 3 is slow......

I forgot the name of the first TBS I played, but it is a game about mining the planets in the solar system, published by the now defunct Avalon Hill. The second one is called Invasion Orion.

I hesistate to put M.U.L.E. and Archon I/II in the TBS genre. They are more accurately cross-genre games.

Then there were 1940 by Chris Crawsford, Legionaire on the Atari 800, Empire on a DEC Professional 350, etc.

Railroad Tycoon is way down the line.

Me too. I was 9, and I was placing my legions around cities a-la WarCraft.

My first TBS game was propably a game of chess with my friend in 1985. Or earlier.

                                With computer...

Propably warlords... or civ1... I'm not sure.
I'm not a complete idiot: some parts are still missing.
