  • I have a problem with cookies

at Apolyton. They don't work. Even when I don't close IE down and leave the site and come back. I'm not logged in. I recently had to reformatt my hard drive etc etc. And all my previous cookies are gone.

how do I get them back?

    I want cookies

Are your options (in your user cp) set to browse board with cookies?

I think this belongs in OT.

That's odd, there are five posts on this thread (four replies), but the forum display says that there are only three replies.

The reply display thing shows up for me, too. If you've got them turned on here and in IE, then I have no idea what's wrong.

The best way to get your brownies is to follow these instructions. Do note that this doesn't guarantee anything, but at least you'll get the biscuits from the control panel when pressing "Submit Modifications." Also check what your level of privacy is set to in MSIE. At least the "Normal" (or lower) setting should accept the cookies from Poly. If the problem is somewhere else, then I'm not sure where it could be.

                    1. Go to the control panel.

                    2. Choose Edit Options.

                    3. Select yes for both "Automatically login when you return to the site? (uses cookies)" and "Browse board with cookies?"

                    4. Apply the new settings. Or if you already had the settings set as described above, I still advice that you press "Submit Modifications" because it will send the cookie to your browser anyway.

Damn! this is still a serious problem. I thought I had it fixed.

submitting modifications did not work btw.

I then changed the address I used to reach the forums. I used the address after I had signed in. It seemed to work until I clicked on Apolyton/community then I was logged out again.

BTW I'm using IE 5.0 now. I used to use IE 5.5.

not sure if that makes a difference.

edit: now it works when I change sites using the same browser. If I close the browser down it logs me out.

OK this auto-logging out is still a problem for me.

What cookie settings do you guys have?

Under tools- options - privacy my setting is on medium. There is an option to customize those settings, but I have no idea what to set them to. I'm using IE 6.0

Why don't you read some of the older threads first? For example my thread on "Sporadic server amensia."

I didn't think it affected other people

Everone always says it's a problem with my cookies.
