How do you make a link to a specific post?

I have been able to do this before, but it doesn't seem to work for me by copying what did work and replacing the thread and post numbers. Do you need to specify page number in the link for threads of multiple pages?

Can someone give me a nice, ready worked example I can copy and edit?

seems to work if you edit the 2 numbers in it and they're the same. But I can't seem to find what number a post is without doing a search for it.

Thanks, ixnay. You can position your cursor over the reply or edit button and the link will tell you the post number at the bottom of the window (at least with Internet Explorer it does).
