  • Vbulletin 2.0.3

I'm curious, why are the Apolyton forums running vbulletin 2.0.3 when the current version is 2.2.6? Are you just holding off until vbulletin 3 is released?

Maybe this is a version with less bugs...
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

Or maybe Markos had to do a lot of other more important stuff to do like our new file database the Apolyton directory.

we have tons of hacks, small and big, on our forum scripts that make upgrading a harder issue. also, an upgrade will affect the directory as well, since the two systems are connected.

so there's lot of work that needs to be planned and done in order to minimize downtime

So when would the next update be expected, around 3 or when when the next big feature is added?

there arent any huge features missing from the current version, importing the rest of the databases into the Directory is of higher priority

Oooh, a vbulletin 3 beta test board is up and it has a bunch of cool stuff - especially the WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) posting, which lets you easily format text and see what your post will look like. Very cool, and I hope Apolyton gets it sometime.

I'm there now, but can't find the WYSIWYG posting style.
I'm looking for something like that for long already, to implement in my own boards, but it's pretty hard.

the standards are ok, but if you want to add some self-made stuff to it, it's getting trickier.

Now see if I can steal it

That 'delete quote' function really makes no sence.
It just clears the message entirely, not the quote only

I'm trying to create a script that'll be able to tell the quotes apart from the 'self made' text.

                          My five cents...

Currently the bandwith issue is much more important than upgrading to a beta version of vBulletin. It's much better to upgrade to version 3.0, than a beta version, as that WYSIWYG feature isn't that urgent, if one can't even access the site where the feature is available for use.

You should be more selective with your choice of hacks Markos CGN is kept up to date on the server upgrades, but then again, we don't have any hacks in place.
