How long after you post a reply or thread do you have to edit it before you get the nice message that says "last edited by so and so whenever it was"? Just curious.

It means you have made it easier to read, more accurate, or more thoughtful.
All those things improve the probability that a guest lurker will join the site - and eventually buy something from the Poly shop after many months of posting.
