  • suggestion for improved quoting

interpret normal quotation marks as [quotte] and [/quotte] (without the t)

    so I type this:

"blah blah important thing to quote blah blah"

    and it comes out this:

blah blah important thing to quote blah blah
or if the script needs to know explicitly where to start and where to end make it ": and :" or " and /" or something.

is this possible? it really would speed up the typing, because to quote you now have to type all over keyboard, miss a key, correct it.. it adds up.

    Just use [ q ] and [ /q ]

      I didnt know that

anyway my system cuts the time of that in half, eliminating brackets that are alt+f and alt+g for me.

Some people just want to use quotation marks. When quoting something you may not want the blue quotation - especially if its just a couple of words and not linking to others' specific posts.

I don't agree- when i use quote marks, I am not necessarily quoting something someone else said... I like the way it is now.

Signatures being a perfect example of why you don't want this idea implemented.

            Sorry Vet.

The current system is fine. The double quote has its uses.

That would totally screw up AC-Fiction, where we often post things with dialogue in them. I say leave it as it is.

This would be an awful change for ACS's forums. I do not want to see this change made. How hard is [ q ] ?

Although, vet's idea could work if it only worked for DOUBLE quotes:

                      example

                      ""how""

                      would be quoted

                      but not
                      "how"

just a suggestion- i don't like it either, but if Vet want's it to work, he may like the idea and use it, crediting it to me of course

I think the current [q]quote[/q] system is fine.
Anything else means you are just too lazy.

                            hmm... It seems as if
                            and
