  • The search term you specified (...) is under the minimum word length (4) and therefor

The search term you specified (rex) is under the minimum word length (4) and therefore will not be found.

    Bah.

What's the point in this limit?

And where is the original REX thread?(and others threads about it)

Try performing the search using T-REX or TREX.

EDIT: Or even try using the wildcard (*), for example REX*

Actually, yes, it's stupid. Searches on Area 25 fail the same way.

I think it's stupid, but done to minimize the load on the server from indexing all the search terms. Or something technical like that.

Simply perform the search as such:
            OCC*
            ICS*

What is a REX thread? Eli, is there something geeky going on I should know of?

I think REX stands for Rapid EXpansion or something like that.

But Civilization board where you can't search for things like AI and war, is definedly pretty silly.

Couldn't the search just exclude common words like and, the, a, an, as, is and of, and allow searches with the rest?

                      This rule is truly bizarre.

I was looking for info on configuring SMAC for WinXP, and eventually concluded that XP is not regarded as a word.

I am unclear how requiring more search terms reduces the load on the servers.

If you wanted to search for XP, just surround it with the wildcard symbol ie: *XP*
As long as the word is four or more characters long, the search engine will be happy.

Searching for *an* and displaying all results as posts gives you no matches. But it really slows down the site.

Oh well, it did half its job.
