Question about E-mail notification on new posts

I was wondering, why don't I get E-mail notification of all the threads I have posted? Previously the case was this, but now it seems that at least two posts has to be made in a thread before I get notified.

So, how is it exactly?

My experience is that it depends on how you reply. If you use the quick reply underneath the thread, you don't automatically subscribe, but when you use the the reply button to proceed to the reply form, you'll get the emails.
