The OT covers politics quite well (some would say it does it too well)
That said, I think that a seperate history forum is a good idea. IMO the OT moves too fast to allow historical discussions and such a forum would fit in well with a site dedicated to what are essentially historical games (except for SMAC
)

The primary purpose of Apolyton's forums are to first cover the gaming titles that Apolyton covers and related titles (e.g. "Alternate Civs / Other Games"). History/politics are off-topic discussions and will thereby continue to be discussed in the "Off-Topic" forum.
