He should have locked the thread and stated the policy against piracy. Why tell people to use another method to do something wrong. At least just don't say anything. But this was the equivalent of "go drink off school property". At least say nothing...no reason to encourage people...

Well none of the staff are publically advocating piracy and want to keep it off their site, but private messages are really beyond their jurisdiction. What more would you like them to do? Violate your privacy?
