  • A Missing Thread

I swear I'm not imagining it either.

The thread i have is: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...&threadid=1535
the game is: Tales from the Monday Night Diplo Front

Now, the above thread is a continuation of an older thread. The above thread links back to the older thread, the link is: http://www.apolyton.net/forums/Forum2/HTML/001906.html
Now, this link doesn't work because it was before the switch over to the new forums. I have searched and searched and searched for the first thread but I cannot find it. Am I just stupid and can't find it, or are there evil forces at work here?

    Somebody help find it.

i don't see it either. iirc, the really old threads have been archived due to limited server space on this temporary server. if it is archived, you'll need to get DanQ to pull it out and put it online

And I hate to say this... but it would be a very low priority. Many... Many... Many... people have asked for other threads to be brought back. For now, you will have to settler for whats still available online.

How much work is really involved in pulling up a few old threads? And how much other work do you all do besides reading through everyone's posts?

One of you could set aside an afternoon and get everything done at once. Get caught up on lots of requests and make everyone happy. Just one afternoon and everything is solved.

I don't have access to the old threads. And to be brutely honest with you, I'm sure MarkG and DanQ have far more important things they can do on this site. As far as spending a whole afternoon, they have real lives. This is just a hobby.
And I don't see how your need for an old thread that only a few people care about is really that important in the grand scheme of things.

only Dan can do it (well Markos too, but he's got all sorts of comp problems). Dan's a student, works, has a family and all that time-consuming stuff. plus all the extra apolyton stuff to do (presumably site updates, news, checking on site bug reports like being unable to get a thread to load , etc.)... plus i assume that he has hobbies too (can't be MP civ )

The simple fact of the matter is that any threads that are not in the forums, either in 'active' or 'archived' modes, for all intensive purposes no longer exist (excluding the possibility that someone might have saved a thread or two to their HDs or an external storage device). The reasons for this is a combination of, amongst others, a) switch from Ultimate Bulletin Board (UBB) to vBulletin (vB) in May, 1999 and b) our sudden server move in January from GameStats to our now extended temporary host in Greece.

If someone has a copy of the thread, you could always make a request for it (in the Off-Topic forum) and see what kind of response you get. Whether or not you are successful in such an attempt, they will not be returning in any shape or form to our forum database.
