Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
While I don't like flame threads, I think it would have been better just to close Vel's thread, not to delete it ... after all, Vel made some valid points at the start.
"As far as general advice on mod-making: Go slow as far as adding new things to the game until you have the basic game all smoothed out ... Make sure the things you change are really imbalances and not just something that doesn't fit with your particular style of play." - WesW
Yep....it was just....out of hand. People were not only taking things I said about the game out of their intended context, but had drawn the thread sufficiently off topic that there was almost no way anyone from Firaxis was gonna continue to read it. But...since Dan commented there, I know now that at least someone from the Civ3 crew read it, so in that regard, it accomplished its mission.
Will that matter?
::sigh::
I wish I knew.
I can tell you that I do find it disheartening that Sid himself is so actively involved in Simgolf while Civ3 slowly sinks. Frankly, I think it sucks.
SimGolf is probably a good game, but it's like a little frigate parked next to the Battleship that is the Civ line.
Frigates are cute and all, but you don't let the Battleship sink just so you can play with the new little distraction.
And yet....that's what seems to be happening.
