I hate to see PH go, but since everybody knows that Giancarlo can't control himself when somebody calls him gay, why do it?

The only reason is that PH wanted to stir Gian up and have some cruel fun with him. That's why he was banned, and I have no problem with that reasoning.

When Gian started those threads about himself and people were teasing him, I had no problem with that cause Gian started it.

I think most Brits find the censorship the Americans enforce quite insulting, which is why more Brits troll to challenge it.

British people see less off a problem with swearing, for example. Where is the harm in me saying f*ck? It is just a sound coming out of my mouth, it doesn't harm anyone.

That's really irritating. Throwing your toys out of the pram and acting like a truculent schoolboy because you don't like the rules has no class.

my posts all got lost when this thread split

I did not even know that the moderators had that power

basically I said that the posters were doing it out of meaness and that happens over here all the time and the moderators acted appropriately

Interesting. I myself would add Sagacious Dolphin/Big Crunch, and maybe even BFB to that list, at least. I think you're being too critical.

                  Perhaps.

If a actually sat down and thought about it, I could expand that list, but not by a hell of a lot.

Well it certainly is nice you hate people from my country, bar a few Chris.

And I don't constantly deliberately bend the rules because I do't like them, I was reffering to some other posters.

                        HA HA HA HA ...
The "American Mods" ONLY enforce rules established by a Euro and a Canadian... Not a SINGLE American makes a rule. The censor program has been enabled by the OWNERS... not the Mods. Any Euro mod would be forced to enforce the same rules we do... or would be out of a job... So your anti American crap is really pretty funny

Only the owners of the site and forums can answer this one, and here, perhaps, we do see a cultural conflict between the USA and Europe. Here it is extremely common to joke about one's (or your own) sexual preferences. In the US people immediatly get offended, or think you are serious (when joking about yourself). It's a very touchy subject in a more conservative country like the USA.
My view is that it depends on the poster the remark was directed to, the intent of the poster making the remark, and that poster's probably knowledge that the remark would be taken as an insult.

I don't really give a damn what people say about me - a while ago, Scipio Centaurus was trying to pull my chain to get banned, and people will say all sorts of things about me. I may respond back in kind, I may come back with something sarcastic, or ignore it, or whatever, but I'm thick-skinned enough to not really care.

As far as sexual preference, MWHC and I had a pretty funny insult fest going on about a year ago, in one of the times we got into each other's faces. It got into an Army-Navy thing, and we just laughed it off.

Other people are thinner skinned about that, or other subjects.

Whether it's bannable can't be reduced to an objective set of rules without allowing either way too much animosity and insults, or putting everyone into a straightjacket where you can't say anything that might vaguely be construed as offensive.

In PH's case, the intent to be insulting was clear and admitted, everyone who's been here 2-3 months knows that those type of remarks will set Giancarlo off, and it's been a repeated issue for months, from multiple posters, who generally encourage each other and get a big group laugh out of it.

One thing I personally have zero tolerance for is a group of people ganging up on one individual, so when that type of situation comes up, I will respond a lot more harshly.

Repeated insults are another thing - if PH had made the one remark, and left it at that, he wouldn't have been banned as long - but when it became a total threadjack, the attitude expressed (IMO) is "**** everyone else on the forum - me and my buddies want to have some fun at Giancarlo's expense, and we don't care about anyone else and why they're here." That disrespect to the other posters is also a part of the reason for the length of the penalty.

And the stuff Chris62 came out with about Brits is true?

PRECISELY why we need a Brit mod - who's side do you jump in on?

If you view things by "who's side you on"... you don't understand the concept of being a mod. The mods are tasked to enforce the rules established by the owners of this private site... whether we agree with them or not... there is no "side"... just enforcement.

                                swell idea.

I'm just sorry my little joke went to far so I won't be candidate since i think i'm more rational and less prone to get emotinal than many other Israelis.

I'm also the only one besides eli that visits this day on an almost daily basis.

I remember Eli wanted to be a mod for some time.

Considering he's here usually more than ... many, he can do it well.

I think East Street trader would be a good choise, but he's rare in these counties now.

Sa far as the current decision goes, I think that the "awards" for Giann baiting have been handed out too late and to only one person.

There have been previous examples all week, by many people.
