Civ games on the horizon?

Civ3 will most likely have either an expansion, a multiplayer gold edition, or both i personaly am looking forward to a worthwhile expansion

However, once that comes out then is there any Civ type games in the works after that? Althought CtP is dead do any other companies besides Firaxis have plans for a Civ game? What do you think they will do at firaxis, Civ4, SMAC2, Colonization2, something new, or nothing at all?

Could Civ3 be the end of the line for Civ games for a long long times?

Do 4X games get counted as Civ games?

What about Moo3, Defcon, etc.?

i don't know much about Defcon, but certainly from what i've read MoO3 sounds like it will be a good game if the IFP system works...but it doesn't seem like any real civ types games are in the works
