• Too Many Complains

Geeze people. Way more than half of the posts here are complaints. Use these forms to discuss "good" things about the game. Maybe a new "complaints" forum should be started.
Where are you from? Put yourself on the Apolyton Map!

We would, but there aren't that many "good" things to discuss.

It's because there are more legitimate complaints than "positive" things...

You do realise that ironically, you just complained about people's complaining don't you?

Now I'm not complaining about your complainging about people's complaints about civ3. I'm just saying that unless you want to be a hypocrite, accept that complaining is ok.

I think we should start up a poll to see which is worse!

1) Complaints

2) Complaints about the complainers

3) Complaints regarding the complainers of the complainers' complaints

or

4) Mouldy Sushi

There are many legitimate complaints against CivIII. While it has enough redeeming qualities, there are far too many things which taint my enjoyment of it.

Based on what I've seen so far (which is much), I would have gladly waited another year for it to be released in it's "finished" form.

Let us go back to the orginal forum. The Roman (or was it Greek) Forum was a place of discussion about all sorts of issues. The forum eventually evolved into the paraliment and congress of modern government. My point is this : Do you see congress disscussing things that don't need fixing? No. The purpose is for someone to bring up something that is wrong. Then everyone debates on whether it should be fix or left alone. This is how a forum works.
A forum's purpose is debate.
Positives Civ3 comments can be used to argue against a purposed change. However you are unlikely to begin a debate with a positive comment. (ex. if I say "The Civ3 patch made the game better" I am sure few could argue against this)
If you accept that the purpose of a forum is debate then you must expect negative comments to prevail.

What sense would there be in a forum where the only activity is to try to outwit other people in praising a game?

PS. What exactly is the purpose of the community? Discussing the Civ games as a whole? Discussions regarding only a single game ought to be in their respective forums.

A great deal of sense. I think the the word you're looking for is "praising", not "appraising".

Yeah. Nobody ever explained to me what I'd ended up posting there by randomly combining words from other posts and inserting the words "Bill Clinton".

Why a seperate place, this site is for civ and you must take it all, the good (no complaints) and the bad (complaints) as they come.

If the game is good there will be no complaints
if it is bad, there will be complaints, and many.

Face it, there will always be complaints. There were complaints against Civ, Civ 2, SMAC/X, and so on, and so forth.
