gp, the main issue the last three days has not been bandwidth, but cpu load. this has been caused by our traffic, e.g. the queries to the serve by hundreds of users at the same time. therefore, the other sites cant do much about it

      Mark,

I just want to use creative problem solving. any possibility that there are some wasteful processes taking CPU time that could be cleaned up? (from other sites) What % of the CPU do we occupy? Any idea on how Heavan's Games or one fo the big FPS sites compares in terms of CPU loading?

Perhaps branched threads would reduce cpu-load, GP?

          On the less serious side,
after the first server busy message, you should rig it so there are two additional

2nd message, "The server is STILL busy, what part of later didn't you understand"

3rd message, "Now the server is not only busy, it's pissed, 2 stinking seconds doesn't REALLY count as later"

If these steps were implemented, I believe it would help the current situation.

I wonder what Mark or Dan would think of the idea.
