Are there any changes being planned to cope with the increase in traffic? This is starting to get annoying.

You do realizing that closing the OT due to high newbie traffic can only result in one to two things:

      a) OTers plotting to remove the newbie menace for once and for all.
      b) OTers going away, and newbies that weren't going to stay replacing them, then an owo-style collapse a couple months down the line.

well if you believe that "newbies" are more eager to follow the requests of the "support apolyton" text lines(under the ads) than i guess you have a point....

The server strain might not have been intentional, but other forums could have been closed. The SMAC forums? Civ 2?

I'd suggest commandeering the "Dinosaurs!" forum, but I suspect I'd get banned for it. So instead I'll just suggest renaming OT as "The Expendable Forum" or "The Vaguely Embarrassing Thing".

I suppose you could argue that, but this snubbing of the OTers... (shakes his head).

Steve, there's a reason I don't post at any other sites like that.

so you're saying that closing the smac forums would have made a big difference in the traffic?

I don't mind too much. It may drive away the spammer types. Although I could be wrong since I'm still posting
