  • Greetings from a new member

This is my first posting, and I'm not familiar with all the gizmo's on this screen, so forgive me if it doesn't follow conventions. I also wasn't sure where to make the post, so I picked this misc. category. Someone please let me know at codadewest@aol.com if I am doing something wrong here.

Anyway, greetings to you all! Your community has a good reputation, although I only know about it from my PBEM Diplomacy life. I hope to become active in here in the months ahead.

I've always wanted to learn how to play Civilization. I hear it's one of the all-time great games, and being quite the gamer myself, I would be remiss if I didn't give it a go.

So...how do I learn it? Is there a good newbie/FAQ site I can visit? Do I need to buy the game first before I learn about it? I would appreciate any sort of kick-start I can get. Feel free to drop me a note at codadewest@aol.com

    Thanks
    Lane Cross

        And get the DL dance?

S/He is a lot safer here, even if this is an OT discussion. Let Ming move it.

Word of advice CodaDeWest and any lurkers planning on posting. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT post a "Hi I am new thread". Just start posting and let people get to know you that way.

Its not a rule, just for your own protection from the OT rabble.

Why do some DL's feel the need to introduce themselves? It just brings them to the mods attention...

                Hi and welcome.

To learn about civ have a look at then threads and see what people are posting. With Civ3 coming out in a couple of weeks time there is a lot of focus on that so it might be worth joining the newbie boat by buying that game and posting your thoughts on it.

                Anyways, have a good time.

These types of threads probably belong in the Off Topic Forum

But try this thread for advice on civ II... it's a real gem

Hello there and welcome to Apolyton from all of us. Ignore the DL flag wavers, it is just tradition.

I recommend you visit the civ3 forums as well on this site and have a good flick through the threads, as well as www.civ3.com and figure out what is going on with this game. I, for one, think the game looks extremely promising and I am confident that it will be the best civ game yet!

And visit the OT for lively discussion. We aren't as bad as we are made out, honest

                          So welcome!

                              He already has

Maybe he's after a government arts grant to perfect the DL dance
