Its more than possible. Ming suffers from spam envy these days.

    Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

          MODERATOR = MODERATOR

          They moderate themselves.

                Isn't keeping an eye on the mods one of the Vice President of the United States responsibilites?

                    I know! Let's apoint an Independent Counsel to investigate allegations of Bill Clinton getting under-the-desk vacuuming services from interns! Oh. That's been done? And he's not President any more? Oh darn, let's do it anyway.

                    Actually, IMO, he wasn't censored, and he had it coming. (I think he was also looking for it to happen) I like Yin, but he definitely had it coming with that stunt.

                    Read the date on the Jeff Morris interview - mid 1999, around the time of all the "enhancements" for SMAC, plus all of Firaxis issues with their forums and alpha.owo. I think Jeff Morris made an ass of himself with those remarks about the forum communities, and they caused a Scheißsturm of commentary (quite justified) in all the forums dealing with Civ games, SMAC, etc. The thing is, it was almost two years old then, and what is more relevant is what Firaxis and Jeff Morris are doing now.

                    The way I see it with Jeff Morris, there's two possibilities - he'll either be/say something equally jerky in the future, and then there'll be something new to respond to, and valid reasons for doing so. Or else he'll have learned something from the reaction to the old interview. Either way, we'll see what happens when Civ III comes out.

                    There was no reason to regurgitate the old interview, except that news on Civ III stuff was slow at the time, and Yin wanted something to use for a soapbox.

                        Wow...that JM article was interestintg. I remember reading it before.

                        1. The article is better content than 99% of normal posts on Apolyton.

                        2. JM is dead on...and is not insulting.

                        3. Yin IS EXAAACTLY a perfect exampple of what JM speaks: forum users who live for controversy.

                        4. Too bad the the pissing match between Markos and Yin had to get aired.

                        5. Mark is correct in that Yin was wrong to air the message...especially with such a saucy comment...but too bad they couldn't settle it in private.

                          moderators don't need moderation. they are carefully screened and possible spammers eliminated from contention. any moderaters with slight spamming tendencies have such a strong sense of duty that they won't spam

                                Everyone:

                                We have ombudsmen in the industry I work in. They are the "neutral layer" of the newspaper industry that interacts with the public.

                                Readers bring their concerns about various newspapers to said newspaper's ombudsmen, who then make sure management and employees are aware of said concerns. Ombudsmen generally are independnent of newsroom and advertising budgets, so as to maintain integrity.
