Mod Harshness on SPAM -
Apolyton Civilization Site
The Altera Centauri collection has been brought up to date by Darsnan. It comprises every decent scenario he's been able to find anywhere on the web, going back over 20 years.
25 themes/skins/styles are now available to members. Check the select drop-down at the bottom-left of each page.
Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
The mods are coming down hard on SPAM these days. I am just taking a moment to suggest that all of us (myself as well) take a little more thought on the importance and relevance of our posts here at Apolyton before clicking the 'Submit' button. Perhaps once the rampant abuse of the boards has subsided, the Mods will be more lenient with our topics and posts.
Well, after the "finally" thread, which was 100 posts of pure spam, they definitely have a reason to crack down on spam harder (even if it meant cutting my post count in half )
But they aren't exactly being fair with it. In the "finally" thread, several people had over 10 posts of pure spam but didn't get pcrs. I happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and for one post (which I thought was alright, since I had seen plenty of people in past spam threads warn that the thread would be closed and not get caught) lost half my post count. Doesn't seem to be too fair, but I guess that is how it works. If the mods had explained somewhere exactly how punishment for spam would work and had stuck to it, then I wouldn't have any problems with this. The faq at least needs to be updated.
Considering this is in a thread about spam, which the moderators seem to consider spam, I really hope they don't crack down on me again...
Hmm, the rules about Spam are fairly clear, posts like this:
+1
Or just smilies, are not posts at all, as are things like "Yes, your right", "sure", "OK", and things like that are usually spam posts.
Also, some people show pattern posting, meaning they always do those kind of posts, wether for fun or for post count increases.
A lot of it is overlooked, but it can't all be passed over.
Other sites have rules against those kind of posts and also enforce them, so I see no problem with it here.
If you just want to say anything, without fear of moderation, go to FreeFire or ACOL, and nobody will PCR you, in fact they would laugh at the suggestion of it!
I believe Saddam because his position is backed up by logic and reason...David Floyd i'm an ignorant greek...MarkG
Where do you get the idea that the mods are against spam? MarkG has been spamming the OT with the best of them since Sept. 11.
BTW, +1.

The complete body count for that thread and the other one I closed isn't in yet. I haven't had time, and when I saw Mark had tagged a bunch of people, I figure the example had been made for the moment, so I didn't have to hurry too much.

Personally, I think the only thing sillier than PCR's is post count, but a lot of people get hung up on post count. If you're low enough, it's really silly to lop of 13 posts or something for 10%, so the penalties are higher. Look at the bright side, if you're post count obsessed. I hit Alexander's Horse for 2000 posts once. (I later gave him back 1400, when I reduced his ban for being a good boy. )

SPAM is subjective and variable. A little here and there gets ignored. When a bunch of people decide to party down, we make examples of the more visible ones.

Nope, this is a thread about moderator policy regarding spam.
