• FACES Of APOLYTON #3: TAU CETI

Edition number three of the "Faces of Apolyton" interview series is here. This time, our questions are answered by Tau Ceti, administrator of the SMAC PBEM Tournament, which is a very popular choice of the SMAC multiplaying crowd.

Also, you will notice that this time, most questions are asked by Keygen, not Solver. This means that everybody might be asking questions. If you want to be one of them, send me a pm or drop me a line at solver@apolyton. net , to have the ability to ask some questions for one of future interviews.

Faces of SMAC continue.
Need I say more?
OK, I said I would keep quiet on this, and from this point on I will.

Like the Laz interviews AH thing?

What is the incentive to do an interview when it will crushed by by ye olde editor and never see the light of day?

Really, no more comments about the interviews, our input was a waste of time anyway.

You discover new Apolyton users everyday.

Who the **** is Tau Ceti? (no offense, i'm just a regular stupid off topicer )

Yes, faces of SMAC indeed. Not that there's anything wrong with SMAC, or the SMAC community. . I'm sure that if i played smac, i would appreciate all the hard work they put into it. But it does seem that the faces of apolyton is a little slanted towards the SMAC side . . whether it's because Solver is smac player. . well I won't make accusations so early in the series.

chris, now you are totally on the side of whining. what's the point of re-posting a complaint that has been answered just a couple days ago?

the AH interview will be posted, on way or the other

connor, i think you just made some accusations....

Well, I enjoyed it. But then I'm a SMAC player myself.

If for no other reason, Tau Ceti merits an interview because of the enormous amount of personal time he devotes to running the tournament - more than 100 games have been set up and moderated to date. It's called contribution to the community, and it is very much appreciated by the many players who have played, are playing, and will play in the tourny ...

Couldn't resist, Mark.
What's next, the top ten SMAC players? (one at a time, of course)

the AH interview will be posted, on way or the other
Just not as intended.

Proff that it's not just me.
I promise i won't comment of "The Faces of Sma....er, that is, Apolyton anymore from this point.

Really Mark, not one more word on this. I'll just watch the faces move accross the boards without comment.

Not exactly. I thought i was pretty fair in my comments. It IS early in the series yet. . I just let you know the (addmitted - early) impression that i've gotten so far. I suppose because I presumed you cared about the opinions of the people at this site? Hey, I havn't started whining yet. . trust me you'll know when i do.

I am a Civ III poster. That is the reason I came to Apolyton and until the bug list is finished it is the reason I will stay.

That said, I have found it interesting to read about high ranking members of the CtP and SMAC communities. I know nothing about these sections except that they appear whenever I load the main page or the main forum pages. So it is good to see what has been happening in other sections that is keeping the ACS community going.

Personally, while I look forward to the Yin interview and later one possibly with Korn, I already know a great deal of what they have given to the Civ III community and so what will suprise me? Meanwhile, I knew nothing about Tau Ceti or Volyxcrix or WesW and it was interesting reading.

I have also recently started Kendo training (out of an interest in all things Japanese), which I enjoy very much. I am still only a 4. Kyu, though (lowest grade, yellow belt equivalent
hmmmm that's really cool...i wouldn't have know that about Tau Ceti without the FoA so keep the interviews coming!

so far all of the interviews have been interesting and i think this helps build the community feel that apolyton has so good job guys!

Special message for Chris: this interview was made and ready before the threads about FoA were started. So, your feedback has not been empty, and it was taken in account starting with FoA #4, and #5 even more.

A good interview, all said. Tau, I applaud you - how on earth do you come up with the time to sort all this lot out? In any case - a more than worthy interview....thanks to Keygen and Solver.

As for all the SMAC-sceptics out there....for goodness' sake, stop whingeing. Yep, the first three have had something of a SMAC/CtP slant....that's something to do with the fact that Solver is primarily a SMAC/CtP player. They are no less civ games than civ2 & civ3, contrary to what the hard-liners might think. In any case, civ2, civ3 and the OT are going to get coverage in the next three interviews....so what's the problem?
