Sorry Markos but that's a BS answer. I'm on cable so I shouldn't have to be in light style. Fact is that more often than not Apolyton is real slow. I wonder what people with 56k6 have to go through...

Me too, page loading times on light are pretty fast. The default setting is a bit longer, but there's nothing unbearable about either. I'm sure it gets slow at peak hours, but that's to be expected.

Nah, keep the page load time.

Then we can use that to complain loud and bitter.

Keep the page load times, I like to know that my cable modem just loaded this page in under a second.

Depending on the time of day, Apolyton can get dog slow.

And no, it's not because of our connection.

The problem is Apolyton's CPUs are grossly underpowered for the workload it's under. Get your techies to look at the CPU usage logs (or start making them).

Loading normal pages are typically fine. Once you try the forums during peak usage, they run like molasses. I've also noticed when the forums are very slow that it prints out each post one by one. I can also download things at 400KB/s or so at the exact same time 'Poly is slow.

Either way, the problem is somewhere on your end, Markos.

And it's starting to get really annoying.

Although I've never had any bad times like Hueji had... But I have gotten a few 60seconds+.

Normally, things are fine. Sometimes (not even during peak hours), things get a bit crazy. Replying takes forever.

that's actually a good thing. with the previous forums you would have for all the posts to be loaded before seeing even the first

Of course it's a good thing. The reason why they differ is because the old forums used a static page, and these ones are generated using a database.

So the database is being slowed up by the lack of CPU power when trying to retrieve the posts, so I get the post-by-post effect when downloading...

actually it's because each post is in each own (html) table rather than being in one big table

Markos, I just wonder how much do you pay for staying at Apolyton.

Staying at Apolyton is staying online. I guess your bills are in hundreds of USD, and thousands of Drachmas.
