Maybe this is a good idea, maybe not, but I was thinking that it would be interesting if we were each allowed one (and only one) DL each. Maybe these DLs could even be "tagged" as such, so that everybody knows tht someone's having fun when they see a DL post. We could all have a hell of a time trying to guess who's who. The moderators would be sworn to secrecy.

Let's make it a game.
I think that DL's should be allowed--until somebody guesses who they really are!
The mods would know and referee. If you're caught, you're out.
And, come to think of it, that's not too different from the way things are now.

Hello, I'm not real
I think about half the regular posters on the OT are D/Ls.
Your point?Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..
Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

My point is that I'm deterred from creating a DL because of the knowledge that it might cause me to get banned and/or lose PCs. Some others are not put off by this, and I would at least like to have some of the fun of having a DL without any risk.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

I don't think DL's should be allowed. They serve no purpose on the on-topic forums. On the Off-Topic Forum DL's of the same person can gang up on the same opponent(s) or wreak otherwise interesting threads.(\__/) 07/07/1937 - Never forget

Chris: No no. Here's a short course on a language which probably only Squid is crazy enough to understand. Copied straight from him.
Due to font problems, the project of making a Hyperborean language with alternate letters is OFF. Therefore, the new alphabet is exactly the same as the English alphabet with the following exceptions:
-The letter ~ stands for sh; the letter + for th, and the letter - for ch
-A long vowel is represented as having a thingy over it. For example, long a is á. I don't care which of the little thingys it is as long as it's there.
-There's no c, q, or x, as all of these are already covered by other letter combinations
As for words, the grammar remains more or less the same. Every word has a root, at the end of which one adds a vowel qualifier to denote the part of speech. A word is either 5 letters long in the form cvcvc for functional words, or two letters long in the form cv for syntactical words. The qualifiers are:
-a means normal noun
-á means "one who is" noun. For example, run + á would be runner
-e means adjective
-é means adverb
-i means verb
-Ã means a passive verb.
-yà is a "to be" verb
-o is a preposition
-u is miscellaneous others
Words can also have postqualifiers, as follows:
-l means plural (noun or adjective or adverb)
-n means past singular (verb)
-t means past plural (verb)
-d means present singular (verb)(note that this is a change from before)
-s means present plural (verb)(note change)
-k means future singular (verb)
-z means future plural (verb)
-th means imperative (verb)
-r means comparison (adjective or adverb)
-m means superlative (adjective or adverb)
Post Qualifier Words:
-f means of
If a word needs more than one postqualifier, both are used with a u vowel between. The order goes tense, number, anything else.
A note on names: ALL name words have to be in the cvcvc format. Thus, a name like Scott wouldhave to be edited to list in the Hyperborean language. If you're translating your own name, you more or less have total leeway. If it's someone else's or a place name, one should try to stick as close to the original sound as possible. Personal names have no qualifiers; places are nouns.
Scott Siskind="Sakat Sakan"
Hyperborea="HÃbora"
Finally, the words from language thread IV stay the same. As before, the + only indicates that you add on the qualifier, NOT that there's a th at the end of each word:
